Selecting an Effective Textbook
Overview
As an adjunct, you may not have an opportunity to choose the textbook you will be using because the department has already chosen the text for your course or you were hired too late to submit a request. Instead of selecting a textbook, you will be adapting the textbook to your personal teaching philosophy and style.
This section will offer you some of the "best thinking" about how to go about choosing a textbook or other reading materials that don't just give "the facts and figures" but will be inspiring to both you and your students. You may also get some ideas of how to adapt materials that have already been selected from the same readings.
